Most AIX commands have a number of optional flags. You can usually combine flags, and you can often do so in any order you want. For example, with the well-known ls command, you can create a long list of files (ls -l) and sort them by date modified using the -t flag. ls –l –t You can combine those two flags and the shortcut will work just as well: ls –lt And swapping the order of the flags makes no difference at all: ls -tl However, sometimes combining flags can have unintended consequences. ...
